Topics in World History is designed for
qualified students who wish to complete studies
in the secondary school equivalent to college
introductory courses in this field. In addition to a
basic exposure to the factual narrative, the goals of the Topics in World History are to develop (a) an understanding of some of the principal themes in World History and (b) an ability to analyze historical evidence.
Because of the rigorous demands of this
course, students will be expected to devote as
much time as necessary to keep current with class assignments and class work. The class requires extensive out-of-class reading and writing.

The Advanced Placement Program in World History is designed to provide students with the analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in World History. The program
prepares students for intermediate and advanced
college courses by making demands upon them
equivalent to those made by introductory college
courses. Students should learn to assess historical
materials -their relevance to a given interpretive
problem, their reliability, and their importance- and to weigh the evidence and interpretation presented in historical scholarship.

This course is designed to prepare the student to take an advanced placement test and earn college credit in World History.
This course satisfies the World History course requirements for graduation.
